Justice Kitchen is a cooking class like no other. It is an introduction to ethical eating–a dialog about eating in more healthy ways for ourselves and for the world. While we dice and season our meal together, we discuss what it means to eat a well-balanced meal, learn to cook a simple meal, discuss eating locally and seasonally, and much more.
Taking the dietary restrictions of the students in mind, we plan a meal made from locally grown and produced ingredients. When attendees arrive, they find out what will be prepared that evening and the class begins! Each class is unique and representative of the growing patterns within the region the class takes place.
Have you ever wondered how many miles your food travels before it ends up on your plate? Or what the Farm Bill actually subsidizes? Have you ever thought about eating vegetarian or vegan? Our hope is that by the end of the evening you will be asking more questions to begin the journey of learning to eat more consciously, listening to your body and feeding your family with confidence.
